Good Friday brought round 2 of the national TT series. Just under two weeks since round 1 and the weather had taken a bit of a turn, greeting us with rain and big changes in temperature from one side of the course to the other.
I was demanding a lot of myself for this round, the course was based over two laps of a very hilly 11 mile circuit. I had set myself a target of getting the job done in the first lap which I new was going to be tight as I was last rider off with a two minute gap to the rider I had to catch. After 8 miles I had the rider insight and made the catch at the 10 mile mark so job done.
The next challenge over the last lap was to beat the time I set last year, so on I pushed and got to the finish line with a time that was 2 minutes faster the last year which pleased me, so all the boxes tick and on to round 3 in Worcestershire on April 26th which is set to be a bigger challenge as its over two laps of a lumpy course totaling 39 miles so my approach will be slightly different to my normal attitude of racing time trials…
Liz Saul was also competing at round 2 where she not only had the added inspiration of wearing team kit but also stepped up to the plate and took a huge chunk of time out of her rival giving her 4th on the day! Liz seems to be a girl that take things in her stride so hopefully this will fill her with confidence to really push for a podium spot in the near future!
