So after 5 weeks of TT training the national road TT champs were finally here, a small village just outside of Bolsover in Nottinghamshire was to be the host. Two laps of a 12km course with long straights and some fast sections to it was on the menu.
Having been out to the course just two weeks earlier and spending a few hours going over every centimeter of the road and doing my homework it all payed off with a win by over 4 minutes.
I had planned on riding a even split race but with not having a minute man to reel in from a visual perspective it left me with only one option and that was to wrap the title up as quickly as possible, so I hit it hard from the off and set a higher than normal pace. At the 8km mark I had made up ground and could see my 2 and 3 minute men, at the 10km mark I was passing the riders which effectively put me in the virtual national champs jersey on the road so I was able to turn the taps down a little and cruise the rest of the course.
So having crossed the finish line and rode back to the HQ it was super cool to pull on the national champs stripes for the second time this season. So that’s two national titles won on the road this year which am very pleased at!
It was great to see so many of my paraT team mates winning in their respective classes aswell and seeing so many riders now competing in paracycling across all classes.
So I have a few days kick back time before I am back to it to focus on the C1 international track event that takes place in Manchester in November! Staying focused and motivated is what its all about #roadtorio
